Suriya drops Gautham Menon's 'Dhruva Natchathiram'reg

"I only do films if I like the story. I quite liked Gautham`s story, but requested him to tweak it a little. But I waited for six months and I still waiting. Unfortunately, my wait has ended in (vain), therefore I`m pulling out of this project," Suriya said in a statement.

"This is not the first time I have shared such an experience with Gautham. In the past, we launched another film called `Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam`. We shot for a week and then I waited for another eight months before pulling out," he added.

‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ was launched in May. Menon had also cast few actors for the film and even shot a few scenes.

"I can`t wait any longer as I feel Gautham and I are heading in opposite directions in our ideologies. I don`t think I can work together with him," Suriya said.

Now, Suriya will start working on yet-untitled Linguswamy project from November onwards, while Menon is busy shooting his part for upcoming independent film ‘X’, which features Rajat Kapoor in the lead.

Aaradhya will turn 2 on November 16.
The 71 year old legend also said that he has been resting to the best of his ability. He said, "I have rested to the best of my ability .. not moved from my recline the entire day, despite meetings which were most imperative to have .. cricket kept me involved entirely."

Few flop films haven't affected my career: Kangana Ranaut

Acknowledging that she has made it on her own in Bollywood, actress Kangana Ranuat says a few flop films do not have much of an impact on her career.
Kangana, who hails from a small town of Himachal Pradesh, is known for her performances in 'Gangster', 'Fashion', 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbai', 'Raaz 2', 'Tanu Weds Manu', 'Shootout at Wadala' and has also won a National award.
However, her few films like 'Kites', 'No Problem', 'Double Dhamaal' 'Rascals' and others did not do well.
"It is not that I regret doing any film. We are independent women who run their own houses and it is not necessary that you can always get the kind of work you want to do. So sitting idle and jobless at home is not the option. These films may not have done great but they could have done worse also," Kangana said in an interview here.
"By doing these films you get out of your problems and the makers also get to work with you, so it is a win-win situation for everyone. Films like 'Double Dhamaal', 'Rascals' don't badly affect your career, it has not affected my career till now, it could have been worse. So I have only gratitude for films like these," she said.
The actress says if these films would not have come her way, she might have ended up doing an item number in a regional film.
After achieving success in Bollywood on her own, even her family is reacting quite positively to her work today.
"My sister likes me in films like 'Queen', my brother likes me in science fiction space and my parents like to see me doing more conventional stuff like 'Rajjo' etc," she said.
Her upcoming films 'Queen', 'Rajjo' and 'Revolver Rani' seem to be women centric. In 'Queen' she plays a naive girl from Delhi, she essays the role of a nautch girl in 'Rajjo' and is a dacoit-cum-politician in 'Revolver Rani'.

CCI to act against Aamir Khan for defaulting on fine

Aamir Khan

Fair trade regulator CCI today said it will initiate recovery proceedings against cine star Aamir Khan, two film producers associations and six others for failing to pay penalties imposed on them.
These penalties, totaling Rs 2.17 crore, are pending for up to over two years despite there being no appeal filed or appeal having been dismissed, CCI said while publishing a list of these defaulters.
Pending penalty against Aamir Khan stood at Rs one lakh only, which was imposed as part of an order passed against 27 film producers on May 25, 2011 in a case related to anti-competition practices by film makers.
This order was passed pursuant to a complaint filed with the Competition Commission of India by FICCI Multiplex Association of India.
Besides Aamir Khan, the fair trade watchdog said "appropriate action" against eight other entities would also be taken.
These include IATA Agents Association of India, Telangana Telugu Film Distributors Association, Film Distributors Association, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce.
Among the nine entities, All India Organisation of Chemists & Druggists has to pay the highest penalty of little over Rs 1.47 crore, according to the regulator.
CCI, which keeps a check on any unfair trade practices at the market place, said it has decided to take suitable and appropriate steps to recover unpaid penalties from parties that have been imposed under the Competition Act, 2002.
"CCI could initiate prosecution under Section 42(3) of the Competition Act for not complying with the orders of the Commission and follow-up reference to Income Tax Department could be made for action on recovery certificates already issued to these entities," it said.
Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce is to pay Rs 12.89 lakh, while IATA Agents Association of India and Telangana Telugu Film Distributors Association, have to pay Rs 1 lakh each as penalty.

Why is Deepika Padukone feeling homesick?

Why is Deepika Padukone feeling homesick?

Due to her hectic schedule, Dippy is unable to spend some quality time with her family

We know how difficult it becomes for actors to spend some quality time with their family considering their hectic schedules. And one such case is of Deepika Padukone. Last time when the Ram-Leela actor spent some time with her family was two months ago when she went for a family vacation overseas. After her vacation, she has been pre-occupied with so many things, that she hardly gets to spend time with her loved ones.
After Deepika returned from her holiday, she flew to Dubai to shoot for Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. After she returned from Dubai, Deepika got busy with the launch of her line of clothes and the promotions of Ram-Leela. While she was busy with this, the leggy lass left for Goa to film her upcoming project, Finding Fenny Fernandes. With such a schedule, she hasn’t been able to spend time with her family and she was feeling homesick.
Since Deepika was missing her family so much, we have heard that she has invited her family to spend some time in the sun and sand with her. Unit members say that Dippy is also holding business meetings on the sets so that she doesn’t have to go away from her family.
Well, with such a schedule, Deepika surely deserved a break. Hai na?

Is Amitabh Bachchan 102 years old?

Amitabh Bachchan to play 102 year old man

We know the legendary can’t be that old since he celebrated his 71st birthday yesterday. So what’s the whole deal about him being a 102-year-old? Read on to find out….

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has turned a year older but he is certainly not 102-year-old man. Well, we are talking about his next film 102 Not Out in which we hear actor will be seen playing the role of a 102-year-old man. The film will be directed by Umesh Shukla and produced by Bhushan Kumar. Reportedly, the movie will also star versatile actor Paresh Rawal too. 102 Not Out is about a man who wants to break the world record of the oldest man alive and to achieve his aim; he needs to live another 17 years. Doesn’t the story sound interesting? After successfully pulling off the role of a 12-year-old progeria patient in R Balki’s Paa, we are sure playing 102-year-old man onscreen won’t be harder for this prolific actor, hai na?
Also, it would be an absolute delight to watch Paresh Rawal and Big B – two power house of talent together on silver screen. We are totally looking forward to this film ‘coz it won’t be anything else but a cinematic experience. After all, we don’t get to see talents like OMG director Umesh Shukla, Paresh Rawal and Amitabh Bachchan coming together often!

Is Salman Khan’s Kick jinxed?

Salman Khan

First it was Sallu’s health issues and court hearings that postponed the shoot and since last month UK visa woes have brought the Glasgow schedule of Sajid Nadiadwala’s debut project to an abrupt halt

Sajid Nadiadwala is helpless. His much-anticipated film Kick starring his best buddy Salman Khan has been in trouble ever since its inception, for no fault of his own. And surprisingly, the only person to be blamed is his jigri dost Sallu! First it was the superstar’s health that delayed work on the film and later Salman’s impending 2002 hit-and-run case played spoilsport, with the court setting tareekh pe tareekh for the hearing. And just when Nadiadwala’s star was supposed to fly to the UK to start shooting for Kick, his visa was rejected by the UK government.
Sajid flew to Glasgow in the last week of July to shoot the first schedule of his film with Randeep Hooda, but after waiting for almost a month for Salman to sort out his visa issues, the Housefull 2 producer was left with no option but to return to Mumbai and see what he could do to fix the situation. Our buddy the eavesdropping birdie tells us that the second schedule will soon start in India. Meanwhile, the plan is that after the Being Human actor’s UK work permit arrives – hopefully soon – the two friends will fly to the UK.
And the film is scheduled for an Eid release next year – Salman’s favourite festival. We know that the star and his bhaiyaa Sohail were keen to release Mental during Eid this year, but that didn’t happen and Chennai Express reaped the benefits. Reports say that the most eligible bachelor in Bollywood has already blocked next year Eid as the release date for Kick. That’s really ambitious Sallu, but considering all your professional turmoil – impending 2002 blackbuck poaching case and other commitments – we wonder if the Kick schedule will ever gain enough momentum to finish the film, leave alone allow it to release during Eid!
We hope life sorts itself out soon so that Khan and Nadiadwala can kickstart the shooting schedule and wrap it up in time for and Eid release next year. Salman fans have been waiting a while for a new movie from their fave star. Right, BollywoodLifers?
